Each time I was pregnant I found myself wanting to learn about every little thing going on inside of my body. I’d read all the pregnancy books, drive my husband crazy with the many baby shows you find on t.v these days, and this most recent pregnancy I found the site mentioned in the subject, Babyfit.com. Even though I had been through it all before; the morning sickness, the cravings, the heartburn, the aches and the moods, I learned with finally carrying a girl (after 3 boys and very similar pregnancies) that each pregnancy can be so very different.
I’d find myself logging on every day to check my Due date month message board, it was nice being able to relate to other women going through the same thing I was, at the same time. While there, it was a neat goal to try to meet the daily challenges. By recording what I ate, tracking exercise, reading the articles and etc. All in which they gave you daily points for! You could even spin the daily wheel to win extra points and once in awhile a prize would show up on that wheel; A water bottle or tote bag. I happily won the tote bag. The most satisfying thing for me and the daily points was I knew it was for a good cause, for so many points you’d earn, they’d donate a dime to the March Of Dimes. (note: I was just looking at the site, and unsure if they are still doing the donations) So, in a friendly environment with all the message boards and friendly ladies,I knew I was doing good for myself, my baby, and a little good to the March of Dimes, all win win in my book.
Babyfit.com offers everything you need and want to know about pregnancy, trying/wanting to conceive, to your little one being born. They offer:
Daily meal plans & shopping lists
Pregnancy fitness program
Pregnancy nutrient tracker
Healthy recipes
Weight tracker
Message Boards
Mommymail – in site mail with other members.
Baby Pages – create your own baby webpage within the site.
And much more.
I highly recommend this site to anyone who is pregnant or trying to conceive. 5 stars! As I sat here looking through the site to refresh my memory, I see many familiar names still using the site. My little one is now 8 and a half months, and life got busy with a big life transition and move, but it’s nice to see that many friendships bloomed and continued on this site. Perhaps I should pop in and say hello.

Being the clean freak that I am, I’m always looking for good cleaning products. However, I’m picky about what I use because I try to keep my home as natural as I can by using organic and natural products. This doesn’t always make things easy.
My sanity was saved awhile back as I was strolling through Target, on my never ending search for non chemical ways to clean. I spotted a cute bottle with the method label on it. I had heard raves about this new natural product but have yet to try it. I snatched up the tub+tile eucalyptus mint cleaner and read the label:
people against dirty
Your bathroom: You’re naked, it’s naked, everybody’s naked. Well, unless your bathroom surfaces are sporting a layer of harsh chemical residue from bleach and ammonia-based cleaners. That’s actually kind of dirty. method’s biodegradable formula removes soap scum and hard water stains without leaving nasty toxins in it’s wake. And that’s good news for you and your body–your beautiful, naked, toxin free body that is.
I was instantly sold on trying this product, it’s non toxic AND they have a sense of humor! Oh,and it’s not tested on animals, great!
Meanwhile, my husband is looking at me like I’ve lost it as I dance about a new product, I convince him we must hurry so I can go home and clean our new bathroom- we just moved, by the way, and the place needed some serious cleaning before we could even unpack!
After trying the product, I was one, happy, cleaner lady! It smells great, it worked great and I didn’t have to worry about all those horrible chemicals as I bathed, or bathed my children.
Since then, I’ve tried all their products and am now a faithful method user. The prices are reasonable, the bottles are recyclable and my home is much happier!

There seems to be an ongoing debate since a report in April of 1999 on ABC-TV’s 20/20 disclosed an unnerving possibility- do the petrochemicals that make up plastic pose health risks to infants and children? The chemical bisphenol A or BPA is used in the plastic to make bottles, and many other common products.
Once I heard this, my mother alarms went off into a shrieking fit. My 8 month old daughter just started the transformation to bottles from breast. So I went straight to the source a lot of us run to: The Internet.
In my search I found that the BPA site states that over four decades of extensive safety research on BPA shows that consumer products made with BPA are safe for their intended uses and pose no risks to human health.
In other sites such as WebMD there is an article on the studies found with mice with the BPA chemical. In this article they say:
“The horrifying thing is that it looks as though these effects in the Hunt study and other studies happen at lower doses than what is actually found in human fetal blood — umbilical cord blood,” vom Saal says. “That is pretty stunning. That is an alarm. It needs to be the basis for a very serious re-evaluation of the potential for human harm of BPA.”
If you go to Google, you’ll find tons of articles on this information, which can make anyone who wants to do the best for their child, head spin. So I took my search in a new direction, the alternatives of plastic baby bottles in the way of being cautious. To my delight I found decently priced glass baby bottles, water bottles, food storage containers and childrens products at Life Without Plastic.
In the end it’s every parents decision, I myself have 4 kids and they’ve all used bottles, sippy cups, plastic toys, teether’s etc. at one time, and are all fine. But on the same line, I am one to go organic and natural as often as I can.. and for those reasons I did my research, which I always recommend any worrying parent to do. This mama will be buying glass bottles.. Now I have to worry about them breaking.. will our mothering worries ever end… Hah, never!
